B.A.'s Nevis Pictures Page

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Rich, Rick and I went to Nevis in the summer of 2003...

Rich and Rick had gone in the past, but I was lucky enough to go this time

So Nevis is a small island in the West Indies. Completely relaxing, which is strange for me, usually I'm a little wound up. But we all (Rich, Rick, two other friends and myself) shared a most excellent house. And just basically enjoyed ourselves. Wonderful.

Hopefully I'll get some more pictures to add to this.

Nevis! -- Relaxation!

The small-ass plane we flew into Nevis on. Very shaky. Also the plane I flew out on - a day late.
Always nice to show up for my return flight and have the dude behind the counter say,
"Bad news, mon. No plane today."
Though got me one more day on the island.

Here's my attempt at taking an artsy picture. I like the colors and the emaciated cow.

Went to the horse races during Culturama.
In typically Carroll-fashion, we showed up, watched two races and left. But the view was amazing.
Horses flying around a crappy, uneven horse track near the beach...
The ocean and palm trees in the background... excellent.

Now it may seem like we were busy.
But we often spent days as follows: get up, swim in pool, go to beach, eat lunch, drinks, prepare dinner, drinks, sleep.
Or some combination of those.
Here's Rich and I relaxing at Chevy's on the beach. It was conveniently close to the airport, and you could sort of wait for your plane there.
But you had to get going once the plane was sighted.

Rich, Rick and Caroline at Chevy's.
This is the day I departed.
Hopefully we were keeping an eye out for the plane.

This is our most excellent house.
Slept in a huge bed in a room with a sitting area and private bathroom.
It may have been a bit excessive for one, but no complaints.
Hammocks, pool, gardens, tennis court = relaxation

Everyonce in a while I would get upset at my tennis ability.
But you just look up at the view, and everything doesn't seem that bad.
I also found that laying off the pregame Killer Bee at Sunshine's helped my cause.

But sometimes you have too many Killer Bees.
Or rum and cokes.

But, then, everyone was doing it.

This was a pot that was used for boiling down sugar.
At one time, Nevis was "Queen of the Carribean," as it produced a lot of sugar.
These pots were at most of the old plantations. This one was at our house.

The water source in Nevis comes from the mountains over a pretty intricate piping system.
It's a tough hike up to the source. And sweaty due to the rain forest climate on the mountain.

But I made it up there.

Hanging out on Ian's deck. His place was a little higher up the mountain.

This is one of Ian's dogs.
She killed a monkey.

Trying to eat passion fruit off of the tree.
Not very successfully.

Back.
