If the Royals have a blog, so should the Expos.

Gnats/Moucherons

FOXSports.com - Sources: Expos to be renamed Nationals:

The whole family is getting involved. My sister Lauren ("Mo") and my brother Terr ("Scotty B Should Have Been an Expo") post on Les Expos. And my brother Mike sent me the link above.

"WASHINGTON (AP) - The Montreal Expos are about to get their new name: the Washington Nationals."

As I responded to Mike (edited for clarity):

"My initial reaction is that there’s no better way to say screw you to Canada by taking their team, moving them to the US and renaming them the Nationals. Because Canada isn’t a nation?

"Maybe MLB will contract the Blue Jays, move them to Las Vegas and call them the Americans."

I still think they should, as J.P. Allard suggested, call them the Ex-Expos. Hopefully someday in interleague play the Red Sux can play the Gnats.

Oleanders and Morning Glories (by J.P. Allard) also weighs in on the possibility of keeping the Expos in Montreal - and the coming deadlines. So maybe my previous post title of "The End/L'Extrémité" was premature. Hopefully.

The End/L'Extrémité

Ocala Star-Banner:

"NEW YORK (AP) - Arbitrators ruled Monday against the former limited partners of the Montreal Expos in their case against former controlling owner Jeffrey Loria, clearing Major League Baseball to move the franchise to Washington."

[via Cro on Baseball Insiders]

It's sad to see it as a done deal. I really was hoping until the end and feel cheated at the moment.

Froogle Gaffe/Gaffe de Froogle

Froogle Search: montreal expos:

"Les Expos: July 2004
$15.00
... com - MLB - ESPN News Wire: 'MONTREAL - The Montreal Expos on Saturday signed 21-year-old lefthander Bill Bray, their top pick in this year's draft.' Very nice ...
www.aljfkds.com"

So apparently the Expos were valued at $15 in July 2004...

Froogle combined the "$15" from "$15 million" in this post regarding Livan Hernandez (that Silver Slugger).

And a picture from this post of me and Vlad.... well, ok... Vlad is out on the field.

Of course Froogle does have a disclaimer that reads, "Froogle sometimes makes an educated guess about the price and category for a particular search result based on our analysis of the page on which the item appears. When we can't confirm price and category information for results, we include those results but separate them from the other results with a horizontal line."

Here's a picture for posterity:

Shouldn't that read:

Countdown to Arbitration Zach

6 Zachs, 11 hours

Oh man is that great. Here's a count down to the arbitration ruling.

And an interesting piece on how the Expos/Red Sux/Marlins deal went down, from a lawyer's point of view.

Remember Buy The Expos?/Rappelez-vous L'Achat L'Expos?

Baseball Prospectus | Articles | Prospectus Triple Play: Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners:

"Nobody asked us if we wanted to run the Expos!"

Remember Buy The Expos? It's what got me into this.

Also discussed: Juan Rivera's (ex-Yankee) rising star and why Brian Schneider should have received the Gold Glove (discussed here as well).
