"The San Diego Padres quickly found a replacement for injured shortstop Khalil Greene, acquiring Alex Gonzalez from the Montreal Expos on Thursday night for a player to be named or cash."
Good, get rid of him. But I find later it says, "San Diego also gets cash from the Expos as part of the deal." I hope that's not true. He certainly did suck, but not so much as to have to pay to get rid of him.
Other quotes that made no sense if they were paired, but are both written in the article:
"Gonzalez should help."
"Gonzalez has played in 72 games this season with the Cubs and Expos, hitting .229 with seven homers and 24 RBIs.... Gonzalez began his big league career with Toronto in 1994. He has a career average of .242 with 128 homers and 494 RBIs."
Anyways, I lost my earlier bigger post, so this is probably a little disjointed. Jamey Carroll should get more playing time because of this, which is a good idea.
'Spos lost 4-3 to the Marlins in the rubber game of a 5-game series.
Also, I highly recommend Google Alerts.
Later.
