James Lileks
James Lileks: Remotes are getting out of control:
"This is nothing new. My parents had a big Zenith that contained, for some reason, a telephone. You could dial a number using the remote and speak through the TV - or, more accurately, shout through the TV, since it was always several feet away. Who would buy such a thing? Men. Men instantly understood in 1979 what this meant: you could order a pizza without getting up for the phone."
I like reading his Bleats, but the columns (free reg. reqd.) are great. Tells a story like Patrick McManus (a funnier version of Dave Barry).
And for those literati out there, I suggest this Dahl book.
Later.
