In response to my sister's email about me seeing Kevin Millwood - Phillies pitcher - pitch a no-hitter yesterday at the Vet:
It was totally cool. In the 4th I said to Terr, "wouldn't it be funny if Ledee decides the game." (Ricky hit a homer in the first - and later a spectacular catch in center field - though he's no Bernie.) Then in the 8th I finally noticed that it was a no-hitter (Millwood walked a couple so I knew there had been baserunners) and I turned to my friend Duff and said "Hey! Did you notice he hasn't given up a hit," and he said "I was trying not to jinx it." So I'm glad I didn't screw it up - it was very cool to see. Like our trip to Montreal (when people were cheering on Vlad) it's always good to see people psyched about baseball. Everyone was up on their feet cheering when Millwood had someone to two strikes. And cheered until he gave a second curtain call. One more thing I can cross off of my list-of-things-to-do: see a no-hitter.
It's funny that we didn't score the game b/c Terr and I had talked about it and there was a promo where if a person under 14 scored the 4th, 5th and 6th innings correctly they won something. So I'll bet a lot of people did end up scoring it. I only saved my ticket stub.
Anyway, very exciting.
Later.
